Kozhikode, 24th Feb 2014: Calicut forum of IT (CafIT), a nonprofit umbrella of IT companies in Kozhikode recently launched "CafIT Square", an innovation zone at HiLITE Business Park.

This venture, a first of its kind in the region is a cluster of IT companies at Kozhikode (Kerala) keen to explore new business ventures in the areas of Mobility, Social Media, eCommerce, Analytics and Cloud Computing. In the first phase, more than 10 companies have committed to build world class products or provide services around open source business frameworks. Spread over 30,000 sq. ft., the innovation zone has the potential to provide employment to over 600 technical and management stream graduates from the Malabar region.

KOZHIKODE: With the completion of the Cyberpark, Kozhikode will also find itself on the IT map of the country, said minister for industries and IT P K Kunhalikutty.

Inaugurating the Park Centre of the Cyberpark here on Saturday, he said great changes will occur in and around the areas after the setting up of the venture. "A number of new firms will come up in the area that will change the face of Kozhikode," he said. Kunhalikutty said the government is moving ahead with the plan to complete the construction of the Cyberpark within a year. "Kerala has become an IT-ready state in the country and the model shown by the state is an example for others," he said. Kerala is miles ahead in e-governance and if IT exports are also promoted, the state will witness phenomenal growth, he said.

KOZHIKODE: In a pioneering initiative that would mark the coming of age of the city’s IT sector, as many as 20 home-grown software firms in the city are joining hands to set up what has been billed the first ever mini-IT park by a collaboration of small-scale IT firms. Calicut Forum for IT (CAFIT), a collective of IT companies and software professionals formed to promote Kozhikode as an IT destination, has decided to set up the joint venture. To start with, the mini-IT park will cover an area of around 20,000 square feet. Calicut forum for IT (CAFIT) is a non-profit organization formed by the IT professionals of Calicut to bring the IT companies under a single umbrella and to promote Calicut city as a viable destination for IT and IT enabled services. CAFIT conducted their Speaker meeting on the 29th of July at HiLITE business park, Calicut. This annual Ifthar event was arranged and sponsored by the HiLITE Group. About 36 CEO/Directors from companies associated with CAFIT had participated.

Prof. Rajesh Srinivas Upadhyayula, Assistant professor, Strategic Management, IIM Kozhikode delivered a session on “Identifying your customers”. The importance of implementing customer management strategies were emphasized during the session.

Marking the celebration of the 80th year of its existence, The Malabar Chamber of Commerce organized a conference on the future prospects of Malabar. The event named “Reinventing Malabar” took place during the period Jan 29 – 31, 2010 where CAFIT members had the privilege to be a part of the discussion panel.  Members spoke on “IT @ Malabar – Vision 2020” – emphasizing the development prospects of the IT sector in the Malabar region. During the event lots of ideas and suggestions which could help developing IT industry in Malabar region were discussed.
